Eastern Orthodox Christians are continuing to seek priests who practice the old traditional values of the Eastern Orthodox Church doctrine when performing the sacramental rites of baptism.  Once the date, time and location have been set between the church and the faithful, the preparation for this blessed event begins.  During the preparation, both parents and Godparents get together and discuss with each other on whose responsibility will be whose.  During this moment, there is one question that arises among many faithfuls, which is the uncertainty in the amount of candles the Godparent(s) needs to have during the Sacramental Rites of Baptism.  According to the Eastern Orthodox Church doctrine, the number of candles depends on the marital status of the Godfather.  One candle is required if the Godfather is single.  Two candles are required if the Godfather is married.
